I have to give a shout out to B-ham restaurants from the weekend. Friday, Toby, Erin and I ended up at D’Anna’s Italian Cafe. The food is always delicious but I especially love how they serve half-carafes of house wine in little non-wine glasses. The smells of fresh pasta cooking, combined with the heat and eating dinner around 9:00pm allowed me to pretend I was in another country for 1.5 hours. Also, our server split the bill without being asked so that I was charged for 1/3 of each of the 2 pastas we ordered, 1/3 of the extra salad, and 1/2 of the wine. Seriously impressive.
Saturday, Jake and I took the girls to La Fiamma for pizza. The picture above shows the girls’ creations from pizza dough that they were brought to play with. This dough came out on a mini pizza plate lightly dusted with flour. This kept them busy and happy for over an hour while Jake and I sipped on house wine and ate their always delicious Veggie Fiona pizza. I don’t know if this is standard but it was seriously the best idea ever.
Go B-ham eateries!!
