B-day trip to BC

For my birthday present, Jake planned a weekend getaway for us in Vancouver and Victoria.  We had such a great time!  On the way to Vancouver, we made a couple of stops.  One was to this suspension bridge.  It is known as the “other suspension bridge” because there is a bigger one in Vancouver that costs $25 to walk over.  This one is free.  Thanks BC guide book!

Next we checked into our hotel, had a delicious sushi lunch and then hit up the Vancouver Art Gallery.  They had an amazing exhibit called The Modern Woman, featuring drawings borrowed from my favorite museum on the planet, Musee d’Orsay in Paris.  I especially love Degas who paints ballet dancers as seen below.

The first drawing exhibition ever to travel from the Musée d’Orsay brings works from the world’s finest collection of 19th-century French art to Vancouver. Presented are nearly 100 works by celebrated French artists such as Daumier, Degas, Gauguin, Manet, Pissaro, Renoir, Rodin, Toulouse-Lautrec, Seurat, Vuillard and others.

After the art museum, we made a reservation for dinner at O’Douls Restaurant and Bar.  We picked this place because they have live jazz music every night.  The food was great, Jake had steak while I had duck.
