This week my “pic” comes from my very own place of employment, Bellingham Technical College. The Rodeo happens each May on Friday and Saturday and basically teams of 4 welders from across the State compete in a sculpture competition. They collect scrap metal in the morning and have 8 hours to create a sculpture related to a theme (similar to the TV show junkyard wars). There is also a Culinary Arts BBQ, ice sculpture demonstration, music, a silent auction (Friday) and a live auction (Saturday). It is a pretty fun event to “work” at and I look forward to it every year!
This event, as you can imagine, brings in tons of young people and community members, especially on Saturday. It has also helped us to triple the size of our welding program in the past 2 years. Go B-ham!
Below is a picture of the BTC team, Azul, who made a cool Mayan calendar medallion.
