Countdown to Ellis!
Well, I have reached my due date (plus a few a few days). I have made it through 40 weeks of pregnancy and I must say that for the most part, things have gone pretty smoothly. I really thought my girl would come early or on my due date but it looks like she is holding out.
I had my an appointment on April 29th and found out that I am progressing quite nicely and could go into labor...
What my kid will grow up with out →
It is so crazy to imagine what life will look like when our babies grow up. Some of this article made me a little sad…
Happy Easter, Peeps!
Wishful Thinking
This weekend was all about last minute preparation. Jake and I assumed that next weekend we will be in labor or home with a baby. I have taken care of EVERYTHING that I can think of. Pre-labor plan is in place, 2 people on standby to take care of Mila, everything for Ellis is purchased and the house is organized and clean.
Feeling hopeful on Friday, I also threw 2 bottles of champagne in the...
A few of my favorite things...
Here is just a small sampling of some lovely things that I have gotten for Ellis. This part of having a girl is just so much fun.
Alison sent me the John Lennon onesie. John is obviously my favorite Beatle so this gift was perfect. I like to picture me and Ellis in matching Beatles t-shirts for a Creme Tangerine concert. The Cougar bucket was made by Karli. How cute is that? She also...
Date of Birth
As I have reached 39 weeks of pregnancy, I have been doing a lot of thinking about when Ellis will decide to join the world. My feelings change by the day. From “she is definitely coming this weekend” to “I hope she is born on her due date”, to “I don’t care about my maternity leave. I just want her to get here!”
With that being said, there are many...
How you became Ellis Rose...
Many people have asked where we came up with the name Ellis and it is actually a funny story. I wanted something perfect and unique and would have loved a great story but that isn’t exactly how it happened. I haven’t met anyone with the name and I like that, although she will have cute nicknames that are a little more mainstream. Dad and Grandma will call her Ellie. I might...
Today after work, I came home to 4 huge packages at the front door. One of them was our stroller. Jake’s sister, Becky, sent it to us. We also got our first week of cloth diapers and the diaper bin from the service. I am venturing into the cloth diaper world and am not sure how it will be but I am excited to try. We started with a service so I don’t have to wash the diapers. ...
Tulip Festival 2011
The daffodils in the fields were in full bloom (unlike the tulips). The striking sea of yellow was so pretty! Jake and I had a perfect day wandering through the gardens in sunglasses and no coats. We had lunch together in Mount Vernon and afternoon iced coffees. The gardens were in full bloom. We wandered around Roozengaarde, took pictures and chose our favorite varieties so we...
A Song for Ellis
Who knows how long I’ve loved you You know I love you still Will I wait a lonely lifetime If you want me to, I will.
For if I ever saw you I didn’t catch your name But it never really mattered I will always feel the same.
Love you forever and forever Love you with all my heart Love you whenever we’re together Love you when we’re apart.
And when at last I find you Your...
Jake and I picked an afternoon to take a half day and head out to tulip fields. We just happened to pick the nicest day of 2011 so far. The sun was out, the flowers were beautiful and the crowds were small. We took a few pictures, including this one which marked my 37th week pregnant with my girl. It was fun to imagine the tulip festival in 2012 with a 1 year old in tow!
ACROSS THE UNIVERSE, directed by Julie Taymor (2006)
stillitseems’s request.
This is quite possibly my favorite all time movie. I just love all the actors/singers perspective on some of my favorite Beatles songs. Enjoy this little clip from Across the Universe. FYI, this movie is definitely a part of my early labor plan!
