Yellingham Festival
Why wouldn’t you put shades on your dog?  This group was sitting right behind us at the park.  BTW, the girl with the red hair is sewing pants and the blond guy is whittling.

On Sunday, we enjoyed the PERFECT weather and caught the most mellow day of the Yellingham Music Festival.  Wiepie decided that this was not right crowd for her surveys so we sat outside and just enjoyed the music.  This video shows spontaneous dancing in a perfect and amusing way.  Oh Bellingham, you make me smile.

Dive Bar
Day 37 in 365 things to do in Belligham had a nice write up on the best divebars in town. This was another new term to teach Wiepie. The post below came out on the same day that Wiepie and I went to a metal concert at Cap Hansen’s, aka Cap’s.  Wiepie got serious with her research while I did some serious people watching, got hit on by a UW student, and got a glimpse into the student...

Quintessential Bellingham
I taught Wiepie the meaning of the work quintessential and then took her around Bellingham for a fun Saturday.  We were picked up by my parents in their VW bus and she loved our mode of transportation! Our first stop was Avalon Music.  They had bands playing on the sidewalk all day in appreciation of Record Store Day.  After the concert, we wandered around the Bellingham Farmers Market. ...

Tulips, tulips, tulips
The fields at Tulip Town. Jake was given these tulips at the Tulip Festival gala dinner.  He won the President’s Award in front of hundreds of people.  No big deal. These tulips came from another event related to the World Tulip Summit.  Jake got them for being a part of the steering committee.  Our house is filled with spring!

Local B-ham pic of the week
Saturday, we will head downtown to show some love for LP’s.  Now, I don’t own a record player or any records but my dad has an impressive collection that I grew up on.  I listed to classic hits like the Beatles, kids records like Strawberry Shortcake and books on record like Dr. Suess.  The Record Store Day event will be held at Avalon music and Everyday music which are luckily right...

For the past 3 years, we have hosted Dutch students through an English teacher program at Whatcom Community College.  So far, we have hosted 5 students who stay for 3 weeks in the spring time.   This year, the program did not happen so Jake and I thought that there would be no Dutchies in our home this year. Until…Henry (who stayed with us last year) called Jake about a month ago and...

My favorite artist is coming to Seattle this summer and I got tickets.  Yep, Rihanna will be playing at the White River Ampitheatre on Friday, July 2nd for her Last Girl on Earth tour featuring Ke$ha. So, who wants to go with me?  My second ticket is up for grabs!

Local B-ham pic of the week
Today with our free Saturday, we hit up the fuchsia planting sale at Fred Meyer. Not only were the flowers super cheap…they plant them for you in the planters that you bring in.  We stocked up on these guys plus enough flowers to plant in our huge pots outside in the patio.  Thanks Erin for the heads up on this annual event!

This past weekend, Jake and I hosted Krevin for the 2nd weekend in a row.  If that wasn’t good enough, they were able to get tix RIGHT NEXT TO US for Cabaret on Saturday night.  In an amazing event, their tix came up by clicking on one thing and I bought the other 2 the day after Thanksgiving!! Our weekend consisted of the following… 1.  Snacks and Final Four basketball at the...

365 Things to do in Bellingham
I stumbled upon this Facebook page and blog yesterday.  This guy is posting something interesting to do in B-ham for 365 days.  He started with one of my Local B-ham picks of the week, the St. Patrick’s Day Parade.  As a B-ham enthusiast, I love seeing more people pay attention to all of the hidden gems is our town and surrounding areas.  Check it out!
